Church Bulletin June 22, 2008
FINANCIAL:
MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR PARISH!
TIME AND TALENT QUESTIONAIRE: Thanks to all who took the time and effort to return your answers to the questionnaire. We have tabulated your answers and have distributed them to the various leaders of our parish organizations. Many checked off what you are already involved in, and some checked items that they are not presently involved in. We have/will be in touch with those of you who checked items that you are not presently involved with. FROM MEN'S SODALITY - New windows have been installed in the computer lab/ library. The outside frames need to be primed and painted. The date hasn't been set to do this yet, but I am looking for anyone who may be able to help on a Saturday. Please call Allen Gephardt at 636-239-7518. Don't pay your trashman to haul away your newspapers and magazines. Drop them off at St. John's and help us earn cash. The paper recycling bins are located next to the baseball field. In April we recycled 4.4 tons of paper and made $66 of free money! Thank you! Anthony Tobben Benefit Fund - Anthony's family has set up a benefit fund to help with expenses while he is recovering from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Any donations or assistance is very much appreciated. Donations can be made at any Bank of Washington Branch or mailed to Bank of Washington, P. O. Box 377, Washington, MO 63090; checks should be made payable to Anthony Tobben Benefit Fund. For more information call Jessica Homeyer at 742-9780. THANK YOU! Dear Parishioners: I would like to thank you or your most generous response to our ministry Cross International Catholic Outreach when I was there on the weekend of March 1-2, 2008. Your parish donated $2,325.50 that will have a direct impact in the lives of the poorest of the poor. May the Lord continue to bless all of you for your love and support. Sincerely, Rev. Stephen J. LaCanne The Playground is Ready for Improvements. The Legion of Mary has been leading the rosary before mass. The rosary will begin 20 minutes before mass starts. We would like to invite anyone who is interested in participating to please do so. "Mary guides the faithful to the Eucharist. (Pope John Paul II)." Legion of Mary: We are still looking for more auxiliary members to commit to daily rosary and prayers for the work of the Legion. This does not entail any meetings, but becomes the crucial back up for the success of our spiritual work of evangelizing that the Legion does. If you are at all interested in the possibility of becoming an active member and attending the meetings, take a flyer from the Legion poster in the vestibule. It explains it in more detail. Thanks to all who have already committed to being a Legion auxiliary member. The members are growing and we need you so much! Prayer Chain Available for Prayer Request: We have begun our Prayer Chain and we thank the 20 people of our parish who are listed on our chain. If you would like, when you have a special need and would like others joining you in praying for it, call Marilyn Kleekamp at 742-4981 or Glenda Adrian at 239-6919 and they will get all on the Prayer Chain to pray with you. You yourself do not have to be a member of this Prayer Chain to make a prayer request. Housekeeping available - call Kathy at 742-2036 after 6:00 p.m.; light stable keeping available if needed.
Instructions for Baptism are usually held the fourth Thursday of each month, from 7-8 p.m. at the rectory. If you plan to attend please call the rectory. The next class will be held June 26, 2008. St. Johns Goes Wireless! Thanks to YHTI and Radio Comm Paging, St. Johns now has a wireless Internet connection! So long satellite! Having a wireless Internet connection has greatly increased the speed and dependability of our Internet service. We are very excited about this change. It is a great addition to our Technology future. This service is also available for use at your home. If you do not have access to broadband cable (Charter Pipeline or DSL) this may work for you. All you need is a line of sight from the top of your house to the tower in Krakow and be within the service radius. And best of all, the service is local! FYI: If you need to contact Fr. Jeff or Fr. Don you can do so via email to the rectory, the address is: stjohnsgild@yhti.net Sick or injured of the Parish: Ginny Ehlenbeck, Mike Stosz, Tony Tobben, Roberta Maune, David Hardin, Casper & Rose Haberberger. We ask the Lord to bless all those who are sick or injured in our community, those who are in nursing homes and those homebound. Please remember in your prayers Marvin Eckelkamp who has passed away this past week. Communion at home for the sick and shut-in's: Please keep this in mind: If you or someone in the family is convalescing or returning from the hospital and would like Communion at home, give us a call at the rectory. Even if it's only for a few weeks. Want to hear from you. So often it seems we are not aware of those who might be ministered to in this way. The Prayer Petition Box is in the church vestibule. Please put your prayer petitions in so we may pray for your needs. Are you new to our parish? Recently moved to this area?? See Fr. Jeff or Fr. Don and they will be happy to register you and your family or call the rectory and we can send you a registration card. We want YOU as part of our parish community! Learn more about the Catholic Faith by listening to Catholic Radio Program; "Faith Conversations" on Covenant Network WRYT-AM(1080), and KHOJ-AM (1460) 7a.m. Mondays and 3:30 p.m. Thursdays.
