It
was a cold and blustery day... and no, that isn't Winnie the Pooh
in the crane basket.
Maybe
I should just say it was cold and breezy the weekend of Dec 7-8
as the decorating volunteers showed up to trim the 2 large trees
in front of church with lights.

Give me a lift!
Now, just a little to the right.
Sky
View Crane from Labadie supplied the lifting power, and Reinhold
Electric installed the circuits, wires, etc to support the power
needs. These guys spent 2 days here!
All
services donated. Thanks a heap guys!

Support
crew.
Folks
on the ground were prepping the lights to be hung, while others
were climbing the trees running electric wires to plug in the lights.
All
in all, 60 strands of lights were put in each tree for a total of
about 18,000 lights.

Nice
picture.
Not
much more of a reason to include this here, other than it
kinda looks nice.
Actually, it gives you a small idea of what the
crane operator was looking at for 2 days. Not a bad view.

Tree
Lighting.
After
a musical program given by the 6, 7 & 8th grades in the church,
everyone processed outside, singing Christmas Carols waiting for
the trees to be lit.
This
picture came out a bit dark. Maybe because it was dark outside
and the only light that was lit was the street lamp in the center.
|
|
Voila.
The
switch was thrown, and the trees lit the area pretty well.
For this picture, no flash was used and the church and people are
very visible in the picture.
As
Father Jeff noted, "If you stand under the trees too long,
you could get sunburned!"

Time
to be sociable
Folks
gathered to visit with each other under the trees. As large
as the trees are, it was kind of hard NOT to be under them.
|
|
Time
to warmup.
Cookies
and hot beverages were served.

More
time to socialize
This
event was meant to bring folks together for a pleasant evening and
a preparation for Christmas.
It
fulfilled that intention!
